4.1 Preface

This module is one of two units on the foundations of physical theory and the application of physics to the biosciences. It is intended that the modules will provide sufficient background in physics so that other more advanced modules in the series can be understood without difficulty. It is presumed that the student has had a previous course in physics and has some facility with calculus. This module deals with atomic theory, basic force laws, and energy. Problems and examples used to illustrate principles of physics are directly related to the biosciences.
