• Psychometrically, a latent variable measured by test questions

2.6.2 Diagnosis

• Conceptually, the art or act of identifying a disease from its signs and symptoms (Merriam Webster)

• Psychometrically, a classification of learners into one of several categories

2.6.3 Latent class

• Conceptually, an unobserved grouping of learners that share similar characteristics

• Psychometrically, an unobserved classification state representing a unique mastery profile in CDMs
