As I said, we can work with you no matter what stage your project is in. We do love to work with researchers right at the beginning on understanding data management practices. An important part of any research project is to plan out what will be done with your data both during and after your project. One great tool for this is DMPTool – which provides a number of templates that are integrated with guidance for writing data management plans. Data Management plans are often required for grants, but it’s a good idea to have them for all research projects, funded or not. J-P and I can give you individualized feedback on plans. We can help you make sure you are following best practices for things like file naming, documenting data, data backup, storage, sharing. You’ll find that some planning at the start of your project can be a big benefit down the road. If you’re interested in learning more about data management we are offering a workshop on that tomorrow, and if you want to specifically know about DMPtool and data management plans – we are having a workshop on that on Wednesday.
