1.1 Installing R

The first step in this journey is installation of R and RStudio. See RStudio Education for Beginners for links to installing R and RStudio, as well as excellent learning resources. Or follow the instructions below.

If the above link is outdated, try The R Project for Statistical Computing website and search for “Download”.

• Select Windows, Mac, or Linux.
• Windows
  • Download and install the “base” distribution.
  • Download and install “Rtools” (which helps with some package installations).
  • Choose the appropriate version (32 bit or 64 bit) for your computer.
• Mac
  • Go to the section headed “Latest release:” and select that version.
