Ideal experiments: Possible “ideal” design
- Randomized field experiment to max. internal/external validity
- Draw large random sample from target population (e.g. persons living in Mannheim): Why?
- Measure trust by accessing thoughts before and after treatment: Why?
- Recruit homogeneous offenders: Why?
- Randomly treat half the sample with exactly the same negative factual experience (treatment group). Leave other half in peace (control group): Why?
- Strengths?
- Random sample; Treatment = real-life experience; Control over timing of treatment/outcome measurement
