I’m the Professor of Software Technology & Modelling at the Department of Computer Science at Brunel University London. I’ve worked as a software developer for a major bank and also in academia. My research interests include software engineering, machine learning and data analysis. I have written almost 200 research papers and three books. For more details see my google scholar page.

It’s a pleasure and privilege to be a member of two internationally leading research groups at Brunel: the Intelligent Data Analysis (IDA) Research Group and the Brunel Software Engineering Lab (BSEL). The NTU research ranking 2 places us 5th in the UK and 79th in the world.

I’m also honoured and delighted to be appointed as the Tage Erlander Research Professor 2022 and so will be mainly based in Gothenburg from January to September 2022. As it’s 2023 I’m now back in London!

When not researching, writing R or teaching (!), I enjoy being with my family, walking, running and playing various musical instruments (but not all at the same time).

  1. The latest (well not the latest any more but I don’t think things have changed substantially !) i.e., 2019 “Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities” is released by National Taiwan University, can be found here. ↩︎
