What to expect in each lecture
We will assume that you have read the material beforehand. We will not go through the exact material that you have read. We will instead use the lecture time to work through examples as a group. You will be expected to participate is class discussion and contribute to small group discussion. These are meant to be informal discussion with your classmates to reinforce your learning and provide an opportunity to ask questions.
During each lecture, we expect all students to participate with respect for us and all other students in the class. It’s important that you follow the following guidelines to ensure everyone feels welcome and comfortable during each lecture.
Please chat only during open discussion or to ask a question
Please engage will all of the learning material. It’s important you come to each lecture prepared.
Please only use necessary devices during the lecture. You are welcome to use your laptop or phone only if you are using it to engage with the lecture.
Please arrive to the lecture on time and stay until the end. We will usually aim to begin each lecture at 5 past the hour and end each lecture at 5 to the hour. This means each lecture should last for 50 minutes. If you think you will arrive late or need to leave early then please let us know. We appreciate that you may have other commitments but these should not disturb your classmates.
If you have any issues, either in this course or any other course, please discuss this with you adviser of studies or the programme leads. The university can offer a variety of student support services if needed. Please ask!
