Lecture 5

We have considered methods to estimate parameters in a linear regression model using least squares estimators. In this lecture we will consider techniques to judge the linear relationship between two random variables and then extend these ideas to assess the goodness of fit of a linear model. We will calculate the amount of variability in the response that is explained by the model.
