Continuous variables

We have already met several examples of continuous random variables in probability. Continuous variables are numerical and have an infinite number of values in \((-\infty, \infty)\). Some examples of continuous variables include

  • weight;

  • height;

  • temperature;

  • age;

  • time.

Notice that some of these examples are restricted, for example we cannot have a negative weight, height or age and so these continuous variables must lie between \((0,\infty)\).
