Description of datasets

Earnings data

“earnings_data.sav” available at NYU classes.

This dataset contains individual-level variables that allow us to analyze socieconomic characteristics. This will be the basis for our labs.

Standard normal distribution

“Standard normal_N_10000.sav” available at NYU classes.

This is a standard normal distribution with $n=10000$. We will use it to illustrate the properties of the standard normal and to understand the Z-table.

School data

“school_data.sav” available at NYU classes.

This is data from the California Department of Education’s API 2000 data set. It samples 400 elementary schools. API is a measure of academic achievement.

Health data

“health_data.sav” available at NYU classes.

This dataset contains individual-level variables that allow us to analyze the health status of individuals.
