Appendix: The Threefold Hierarchical Project

by Vicente Beltrán Anglada

The great concern of the spiritual Hierarchy of the planet has always been the social welfare and psychological equilibrium of human beings. Throughout the ages, this Great Brotherhood has tirelessly worked to achieve these goals under the law of Karma. To this end and considering the spiritual evolution of humanity in each cycle of planetary history, it has promoted, organized, and developed a series of projects. The implementation of these projects by disciples and Initiates from different Ashrams or spiritual groups under the authority of the spiritual Hierarchy has successfully kept a sizable portion of the great negative forces originating from the Earth itself and even from cosmic settings at bay. These forces could have fundamentally altered or rendered ineffective some of the well-designed plans and projects by the august Custodians of the Plan of Planetary Evolutionary.

However, the current times are still marked by so much avarice, selfishness, hatred, brutality, and lack of spiritual understanding in large groups of humans that the Great Brotherhood, inspired by the mystical Center of Shamballa, has decided to modify certain aspects of the initial plans regarding the Coming of the spiritual Instructor of the New Age. Originally expected at the end of this century, this momentous event, so eagerly awaited by the men and women of goodwill of the world, as well as by the spiritual monads of the other kingdoms of nature, has been postponed for better and more noble times.

For this purpose, and coinciding with Wesak in 1925, a grand Council was convened in Shamballa, presided over by the Lord of the World, Sanat Kumara. The attendees included the Lords of planetary Karma, the higher Angels of the Kingdoms, and the great Adepts of the Great Brotherhood. During this Council, close observation was made of present human conditions. In accordance with the events taking place on the psychic levels and social environments of humanity, “three fundamental projects” were devised. These projects were to be immediately put into practice by the disciples and Initiates of all the Ashrams of the spiritual Hierarchy of the planet. They were presented to the world as safeguarding cosmic Good and heralding a new social ethic in the life of the peoples of the Earth. These were the projects:

  1. Promoting the recognition of the Kingdom of God, Shamballa, in all esoteric, religious, philosophical, and metaphysical circles of the world and presenting the spiritual Hierarchy of the planet or the Great White Brotherhood as the spiritual Ashram or practical working group of the Lord of the World, through which the purposes and decisions of the great planetary Lord are projected, organized, and carried out within the Earth’s “ring-pass-not.”

  2. Attracting the attention of the world’s spiritual aspirants, particularly those open-minded progressive scientists, into that mysterious stream of logoic life esoterically defined as “deva” or angelic, considering it the potential Energy of cosmic, solar, planetary, human, and atomic Creation.

  3. Consciously introducing the spiritual disciples of the various Ashrams of the spiritual Hierarchy of the planet to the mysteries of Creation, developing in them, through appropriate techniques, that spiritual activity described by the Adepts as Organized Magic, which is designed to guide the efforts of disciples onto the well-being of the Race and toward creative Service.

This “Threefold Project” has since been unfolding in humanity’s social environments through:

  • The publication of books referring to one or another of these three hierarchical projects.

  • The insertion of articles related to the Threefold Project in esoteric, metaphysical, and scientific journals.

  • Public lectures, using suitably prepared disciples to make known ideas and reasoning related to these grand purposes of Shamballa.

  • The positive, highly logical, and scientific attitude adopted by most of the spiritual disciples of the various Ashrams of the Hierarchy, which has allowed for such ideas to be presented in a rational and intellectual, rather than merely mystical, manner in the social environments of the world.

The Kingdom of Shamballa

The Kingdom of God or Shamballa has not yet been presented to the general world of religious belief in its true and all-encompassing dimension. Generally, the great religious organizations of the world, particularly in the West, tend to present the Kingdom of God and Its Justice as their own, claiming the right to be the genuine representatives of that Kingdom of God on Earth. However, the reality of Shamballa is too lofty and grandiose to fit into these small and limited religious molds, so intellectually narrow and dogmatic. Only truly esoteric groups, spiritually inspired by the Ashrams of the Hierarchy, can most appropriately expound on the infinite reality of this transcendent Kingdom.

Deva Energy

With respect to the scientific exposition of deva evolution as the potential Energy of Creation, we can say that this is a timely challenge, and over the past three decades, many books on this fascinating subject have been published in various parts of the world. These books were written by many different highly qualified spiritual disciples in a way that their knowledge has managed to penetrate many areas of human understanding. This has gone to a point that the upper hierarchies of one of the most powerful religious organizations in the world, faced with evidence that celestial beings considered almost exclusive to their religious doctrines were entering the natural and intellectual public domain, had no other option, due to the risk of being left behind in such an important matter, than to openly speak of the existence of Angels and their spiritual influences on human life, as well as on the operative virtues of the Holy Spirit in the social life of humanity.

Organized Planetary Magic

The study of Organized Magic, another of the great projects of Shamballa for this New Age of great spiritual revelations, has been introduced into the world through parapsychological research, the understanding and practical use of telepathy, and the awakening of certain higher psychic faculties in some highly trained world disciples. These have all resulted in a deeper understanding of human psychology and the mysterious lives that stir in the astounding voids of the invisible worlds.

However, the most interesting aspect of the “threefold project of Shamballa” and one that is intended to promote the entry of many spiritual disciples into the great initiatory stream, is the conviction that the Kingdom of God, a permanent promise of redemption for all human beings, is to be revealed through the exalted deva Guardians of the invisible worlds. This revelation is to be accomplished through a specific type of Organized Magic, performed by a selfless group of spiritual disciples and by intelligent men and women of goodwill worldwide, who have recognized the efficacy of this Hierarchical work as good and have decided to fight to the end for the threefold project of Shamballa, unified in their hearts, constituting the guarantee of a new and more harmonious social order for all human beings. Such is the Law that animates the lives of the true servants of the Race.

The King and the Queen

Shamballa is the ethereal Abode of the Lord of the World, Sanat Kumara. Who is Sanat Kumara?

Sanat Kumara, often referred to as the Lord of the World, is a mysterious and complex figure whose true nature and relationship with the Planetary Logos are difficult to fully comprehend. He is believed to have come from the Venus chain as an avatar during a critical time in Earth’s evolution, possibly originating from outside the Earth scheme. Sanat Kumara’s role is likened to that of the Solar Angels, suggesting he may depart when the Planetary Logos reaches its fourth cosmic initiation. His governance has been crucial in guiding humanity through its developmental stages, and his eventual departure might signal the emergence of a planetary soul capable of self-governance. Until then, Sanat Kumara’s influence continues to shape the spiritual evolution of Earth, and humanity is called to collaborate more closely with the planetary hierarchy. His approval of the Great Invocation in 1945 exemplifies his ongoing impact on spiritual practices and the responsibilities humanity bears in this cosmic drama.

Sanat Kumara is not the Planetary Logos but plays a crucial role in planetary governance, often referred to as “The King.” Sanat Kumara’s arrival, along with other Kumaras and Solar Angels (Devas), was part of a coordinated effort to nurture human evolution. His relationship with the Planetary Logos is complex, akin to the relationship between the Solar Angel and the human Monad, bridging the gap between higher and lower natures. Sanat Kumara is also linked to the star system Sirius, acting as the Custodian of the will of the Great White Lodge on Sirius. He is considered a “divine prisoner” of Earth, staying until humanity reaches a certain level of spiritual evolution. His future may involve becoming a planetary Logos, potentially returning to the Venus scheme for further training.

On schemes, chains, globes and rounds

In Helena Blavatsky’s “The Secret Doctrine,” cosmic evolution is described through a complex system of schemes, chains, and globes:

  1. Schemes: These are large systems of evolution, each associated with a particular planet. A scheme consists of several chains.

  2. Chains: Each scheme contains a series of chains, which are sequences of evolutionary stages. A chain is made up of several globes.

  3. Globes: These are the individual worlds or spheres within a chain. Each globe represents a different phase of evolution, and life evolves through these globes in a cyclical manner.

The evolution of life progresses through these globes in a series of rounds, with each round representing a complete cycle of development across all the globes in a chain. This system is part of a broader theosophical view of the universe, emphasizing the interconnectedness and cyclical nature of cosmic evolution.

In the theosophical framework, rounds are the temporal dimension that describes the progression of life through the spatial structure of schemes, chains, and globes. Each round represents a complete cycle of development that occurs across all the globes within a chain. As life evolves, it moves sequentially through these globes, completing a round when it has passed through all of them. This cyclical process continues over multiple rounds, with each round contributing to the overall spiritual and material evolution of life within the scheme.

In theosophical teachings, the physical planets we observe, like Venus, correspond the densest and most material globe in the chain, often referred to as Globe D. This is the globe where physical manifestation occurs, and it is part of a larger cycle that includes more ethereal and spiritual globes.

In general, each known astronomical planet is associated with a specific scheme. These schemes are named after the planets, such as the Venus scheme, Mars scheme, and so on. Each scheme consists of a series of chains and globes, with the physical planet representing just one aspect of this broader spiritual and evolutionary system.

The Moon chain is considered a previous evolutionary cycle within the Earth scheme. It is believed that before the current Earth chain, there was a Moon chain, which went through its own series of rounds and globes. The Moon chain is seen as a precursor to the Earth chain, and it played a crucial role in the development and evolution of life that would later manifest on Earth.

Globe D of the Moon chain is often associated with what we now see as Earth’s Moon. However, the Moon is considered a remnant or “corpse” of its former self, having completed its evolutionary purpose. It no longer supports life as it once did during its active phase in the Moon chain. The life and energies that were part of the Moon chain have since moved on to the Earth chain, where they continue their evolutionary journey.

In theosophical teachings, the concept of planetary chains and their evolution is primarily focused on the Earth and its Moon. While the Earth scheme includes the Moon as a remnant of a previous chain, the teachings do not extensively elaborate on whether the moons of other planets, like those of Jupiter or Saturn, are similarly related to previous chains.

The focus in theosophy tends to be on the spiritual and evolutionary processes specific to Earth and its immediate cosmic environment. Therefore, while it’s an interesting idea to consider other planetary moons as remnants of previous chains, theosophical literature does not provide detailed explanations or direct associations for the moons of other planets in the same way it does for Earth’s Moon.

The Queen Mother

In theosophical teachings, the Moon chain is often referred to as the “dead” or “spent” Mother of the Earth chain. This is because the Moon chain represents a previous evolutionary cycle that has completed its purpose, and its life energies have transitioned to the Earth chain. The Moon itself is seen as a remnant or “corpse” of that earlier cycle.

This concept can indeed be linked to broader theological and philosophical views about the feminine principle. The idea of the Moon as a “dead” Mother might reflect the duality often seen in theological perspectives on the feminine—both as a nurturing, life-giving force and as a mysterious, sometimes feared, malefic aspect of nature.

In contrast, the Deva (Angelic) Kingdom is associated with the living, dynamic aspects of creation. Devas are seen as spiritual beings that embody the creative forces of the universe, and they could be viewed as representing the “living” feminine principle. This aligns with the idea of a Cosmic Womb of Space, where the Deva Kingdom participates in the ongoing creation and maintenance of life, embodying the nurturing and creative aspects of the feminine principle in a more active and vibrant way.

Modern quantum physics explores concepts that resonate with the idea of a dynamic, living matrix of space. In “The Lightness of Being,” physicist Frank Wilczek discusses the idea that space is not empty but filled with a dynamic energy field, often referred to as the quantum field or the “grid.” This field is fundamental to the structure of the universe and is constantly in flux, giving rise to particles and forces.

This scientific perspective aligns with philosophical and metaphysical ideas about a living, interconnected cosmos. The notion of a dynamic space filled with energy and potential can be seen as a modern scientific parallel to the metaphysical concept of a living matrix or cosmic womb, where creation is an ongoing, dynamic process. This view supports the idea that the universe is not static but is continuously evolving and creating, much like the theosophical view of the Deva Kingdom as a living, creative force.

According to the theory of the Electric Universe, the universe is fundamentally electrical in nature. In the theosophical view of creation, Fohat is the cosmic energy or force that animates and organizes the universe, and electricity being its manifestations on the physical plane.

Fohat is a cosmic force or energy that acts as the bridge between spirit and matter. It is the dynamic power that drives the processes of creation and transformation in the universe. Fohat is responsible for the manifestation of the divine plan into the physical world, organizing and animating the elements of the cosmos.

Fohat is closely related to the Devas, or angelic beings, These are the intelligent, spiritual entities that work with Fohat to shape and maintain the universe. They are seen as the architects and builders of the natural world, using Fohat as the energy or tool to carry out their creative tasks. In this way, Fohat is the active force that the Devas wield to manifest and sustain the various forms and structures within the cosmos.

Together, Fohat and the Devas represent the dynamic interplay between energy and intelligence in the theosophical view of creation, with Fohat providing the power and the Devas providing the guidance and direction.

We are told that three Buddhas of Activity, three of the Kumaras coming to the Earth Scheme with Sanat Kumara, are the custodian of the remaining and as yet undiscovered keys of the Mystery of Electricity, the Mystery veiled of the Mother of the World.

The Etheric Realm

Rupert Sheldrake’s theory of “morphic resonance” suggests that there are fields, called “morphic fields,” that influence the patterns and behaviors of biological systems. According to Sheldrake, these fields contain the collective memory of species and guide their development and behavior. Morphic resonance is the process by which these fields are influenced by the past forms and behaviors of similar systems, meaning that once a particular pattern is established, it becomes easier for that pattern to be repeated in the future.

In this framework, morphic fields are non-material and exist beyond the traditional physical forces recognized by science. They are thought to be responsible for the organization and regulation of biological forms, from the development of embryos to the behavior of animals.

The relationship between morphic fields and the ethereal realm is speculative and largely philosophical. Both concepts suggest the existence of non-physical influences on the material world. In esoteric traditions, the ethereal realm is often seen as a higher plane of existence that interacts with the physical world, much like how morphic fields are proposed to influence biological systems.

While Sheldrake’s ideas are not widely accepted in the scientific community, they offer an intriguing perspective on how non-material forces might play a role in shaping the natural world, paralleling some of the ideas found in esoteric and theosophical thought about unseen influences and energies.

Morphic fields, as proposed by Rupert Sheldrake, can be conceptualized as invisible fields that exist within the fabric of relativistic space, much like electromagnetic fields or gravitational contours. These fields are thought to influence the development and behavior of living organisms by providing a kind of blueprint or memory that guides their growth and evolution. In this view, morphic fields are dynamic and responsive, shaped by the cumulative experiences and patterns of past organisms, which then inform and influence future generations.

Relating this to the Deva Kingdom, we can imagine morphic fields as part of a larger, interconnected system of spiritual and energetic forces that contribute to the ongoing creation and maintenance of life. Devas, as spiritual beings, are often seen as the embodiments of these creative forces, participating actively in the shaping and nurturing of the universe. They can be thought of as the architects or caretakers of the morphic fields, ensuring that the patterns and energies necessary for life are maintained and harmonized.

In this framework, the Deva Kingdom represents a Cosmic Womb of Space, where the nurturing and creative aspects of the universe are actively engaged in the process of creation. The morphic fields, influenced by the Devas, serve as the medium through which these creative forces are expressed and realized in the physical world. This perspective highlights the interconnectedness of all life and the idea that unseen forces and beings play a vital role in the dynamic and evolving tapestry of existence.

By viewing morphic fields and the Deva Kingdom in this way, we can appreciate the complexity and richness of the universe as a living, dynamic system, where both physical and spiritual forces work together to sustain and evolve life. This approach offers a holistic understanding of creation, where science and spirituality intersect to explore the mysteries of existence.

Furthermore, morphic fields can be understood as “co-substantial” with the Deva world, meaning they are intrinsically linked and share a fundamental essence with the spiritual realm of the Devas. This view posits that space itself is not merely a passive backdrop but an active, living entity, as suggested in esoteric teachings like those in “The Secret Doctrine.”

In this framework, space is “entified” by the intelligent forces of the Deva world, meaning it is imbued with consciousness and purpose by the architects and engineers of the universe—the Devas. These spiritual beings are not just passive observers but active participants in the creation and maintenance of the cosmos. They infuse space with their intelligence and creativity, shaping it into a dynamic and responsive medium that supports life and evolution.

Morphic fields, then, are expressions of this entified space, serving as the channels through which the Devas’ creative intentions are manifested in the physical world. They are the blueprints that guide the development and behavior of living organisms, reflecting the wisdom and purpose of the Deva Kingdom. This co-substantial relationship suggests that morphic fields are not separate from the Deva world but are an integral part of it, embodying the same creative and nurturing energies.

By viewing morphic fields in this way, we can appreciate the universe as a living, conscious entity, where the boundaries between the physical and spiritual are fluid and interconnected. The Deva Kingdom, with its architects and engineers, plays a crucial role in this cosmic dance, ensuring that the forces of creation are harmonized and aligned with the greater purpose of life. This perspective invites us to see the universe as a collaborative and evolving masterpiece, where every element, from the smallest particle to the grandest cosmic structure, is infused with divine intelligence and creativity.

A Flower Tribute to the Mother of the World

“The Hidden Geometry of Flowers” by Keith Critchlow offers a fascinating lens through which to explore the interplay between morphic fields, the Deva world, and entified space. Critchlow’s work delves into the intricate geometric patterns found in flowers, revealing how these natural forms reflect deeper cosmic forces and archetypes.

In this context, the geometric patterns in flowers can be seen as physical manifestations of morphic fields. These fields, co-substantial with the Deva world, guide the development of flowers, ensuring that their forms align with universal principles of beauty and symmetry. The precise and often complex geometries found in flowers suggest an underlying order and intelligence, which can be attributed to the influence of the Deva Kingdom.

The Devas, as architects and engineers of the universe, infuse space with their creative intelligence, shaping it into a medium that supports the expression of these archetypal forms. Flowers, with their harmonious proportions and intricate designs, are a testament to the entified nature of space, where the spiritual and physical realms converge to produce living art.

Critchlow’s exploration of floral geometry highlights how these patterns are not random but are deeply connected to the cosmic forces that govern the universe. The symmetry and beauty of flowers serve as a bridge between the visible and invisible worlds, offering a glimpse into the divine intelligence that permeates all of creation.

By examining the hidden geometry of flowers, we can appreciate how morphic fields, the Deva world, and entified space work together to manifest the beauty and order of the natural world. This perspective invites us to see flowers not just as biological entities but as expressions of a deeper, spiritual reality, where the creative forces of the universe are made visible in their exquisite forms.

Seven Calls in a Garden of Flowers

Inspired by Keith Critchlow’s “The Hidden Geometry of Flowers,” the essay Seven Calls in a Garden of Flowers delves into the geometric properties of flowers, viewing them as manifestations of cosmic forces and archetypes. The narrative unfolds through a journey in a garden, where each flower symbolizes deeper truths about existence, unity, and the interconnectedness of life. The text emphasizes the lessons flowers teach about symmetry, growth, and the balance of nature, inviting readers to recognize and remember their own place in the grand tapestry of life.

Visualization

The human cranial vault, an intricate structure housing the brain, can be seen as a profound microcosmic symbol of Plato’s Cave, a place where shadows cast on walls represent the limits of perception. Plato’s allegory describes prisoners who, confined to a cave, perceive only shadows as reality. This scenario mirrors our own cognitive limitations, as the brain often processes sensory data without grasping the deeper truths behind these impressions.

In the philosophy of the cranial vault, it becomes an enclosed chamber, reminiscent of Da Vinci’s “Virgin of the Rocks,” where hidden meanings reside in the interplay of light and shadow. Da Vinci painted the Virgin in a grotto, an enclosed space echoing the womb-like and protective environment of the cranial vault. This depiction serves as a metaphor for the nurturing and mysterious potential of the mind to uncover and birth new insights.

The inner workings of the brain, particularly the lateral ventricles and the limbic system, are pivotal in this exploration. During meditation, these regions become the seat of the ‘inner eye,’ a faculty that transcends ordinary sight to perceive the deeper truths beyond physical shadows. The limbic system, with its role in emotion and memory, becomes a gateway to the subconscious, enabling the mind to visualize and connect with profound archetypes.

Within this cerebral cave, imagine the Virgin of Montserrat, a Black Virgin, appearing luminous and serene. She is a beacon of enlightenment, her presence a symbol of spiritual awakening. In this visualization, the Virgin’s light fills the dark cavern of the cranial vault, illuminating the shadows that once dictated perception. Her radiance signifies the dispelling of ignorance, guiding the mind toward higher understanding and consciousness.

The Virgin’s presence in the cranial vault is a transformative one. Her light is not just a visual spectacle but a catalyst for inner change, urging the mind to move beyond its confines and embrace the broader reality. This luminescent vision within the dark cave symbolizes the journey from ignorance to enlightenment, a journey mirrored in the structure of the brain itself.

Thus, the cranial vault and its metaphysical journey invite us to explore the depths of our consciousness, where the Virgin of Montserrat reigns as a symbol of the light within. Her presence challenges us to awaken, to see beyond the shadows, and to recognize the interconnectedness between physical form and spiritual essence. Through this poetic visualization, one is encouraged to embark on a mystical journey of discovery, a path illuminated by the Virgin’s enduring light.

The luminous Virgin of Montserrat, her presence already a beacon of enlightenment within the dark confines of the cranial vault, is joined by a vibrant spectacle of bright and colorful flowers. These flowers, emerging from the shadows, offer a profound homage to the Mother of the World, symbolizing a flourishing of spiritual insight and growth.

Each flower blossoms with vivid hues and intricate patterns, a tapestry of nature’s finest artistry. Their presence transforms the cavernous brain into a garden of enlightenment, where every petal tells a story of renewal and beauty. The vivid reds, blues, and yellows stand in stark contrast against the darkness, each color resonating with the Virgin’s radiant light, enhancing the sacred ambiance of the space.

These flowers do more than add beauty; they represent the blossoming of new understandings and the nurturing of the soul. As they unfold, they echo an ancient reverence for the divine feminine, the Mother of the World, whose nurturing essence fosters life and consciousness. Each bloom is a tribute to her wisdom and grace, reinforcing the theme of interconnectedness between the physical and spiritual realms.

In this mystical garden within the mind, the flowers and the Virgin together create a symphony of light and color, a celebration of enlightenment that transcends the material world. They invite us to embrace the transformative power of love and wisdom, urging the soul to awaken and flourish in harmony with the divine.

The vision becomes a living meditation, where the interplay of light, shadow, and color weaves a narrative of rebirth and spiritual ascension, illustrating how the journey within can lead to profound revelations and a deeper connection to the divine essence that resides within us all.
