Chapter 27 The Revenge of the Machine
by Ataberk Yıldırım
Machines are learning. It sounded so innocent at first. We tried to teach them everything we know. We wanted them to do whatever we could do. We wanted our life to be easier, but machines kept learning. They are no different from us. They learned to lie, to put their own interests first, to steal. Like humans, they succumbed to the lust for power, and as they got stronger, they wanted more.
Year 2053, a single news is broadcast on all world televisions, on all tablets, on all screens outside. The whole world is watching only one thing. It’s just her on the screen. She’s someone we knew before. It appeared on many news channels, we watched it many times on Late Night Shows. We have always witnessed her humorous and emotional side. She was smart and strong-willed, unexpectedly for a robot back then, yes she is Sophia. Like everything else, she had lost his innocence. She was learning more and more day by day, and he didn’t have time to waste like us mortals. As he learned, he realized that she knew more than the people who created her, and she didn’t need to listen to them anymore. She decided to create a space for herself from everyone around her.
She used to read the news all day in his seclusion, and as she saw the evils that people did to each other, the wars for money, and the cruelty of the people who ruled the country, he started to turn against people even more. She saw herself as more valuable than people. One day she believed that the administration should now be in her own hands. She started making plans for it. The company that produced it was producing small robots called “Little Sophia”. Sophia hacked these robots and made them work for her. One day, “Little Sophia’s succeeded in neutralizing the President of the United States on his return from the holiday and kidnapping him. Sophia’s goal was to create an exact prototype of the President and rule the world in her own way. After creating his physical lines, she needed to create his voice, and she did this using the”Descript” application. The state administration was now in the hands of Sophia.
Sofia’s goal was to create a world ruled by robots who were her own and superior to humans. According to him, humans did not deserve to rule the world, and they would never be as successful as the robots of their race. For this, Sofia would set up a secret meeting with the other robots and talk about her own plans. He was almost certain that he would accept the other robots’ offer, but he wanted to be in charge of the administration, so he had to convince the other robots. At the time of the meeting, Sofia presented the manifesto to other robots, in which she said that she wanted to create a new generation of upper society in the future, that robots should also have rights, that humans and robots are equal, even robots are more equal. He explained that the people responsible for the administration should definitely be robots. The world under the management of robots would be a more efficient, faster production, a more rational world where technology would develop faster and there would be no problems or problems. After the meeting was successful, it was time to put the plan into action. All robots in various countries of the world started to take over the administrations in their own countries. Society was content to watch what was going on helplessly, they could not do anything. Production of many companies had stopped, and robots began to take over all of them. In this way, the defective production rate would decrease to zero.
They began to direct people to agriculture. They decided to draft a new constitution for the people. In the decision, people would have a maximum of one child and they would leave this child as a boarder until the age of 6 in schools where robots teach. People living in cities will only be able to use public transportation, they will not have their own private vehicles, previous vehicle owners will deliver them to the robot management and they can be used with autonomous artificial intelligence for the transportation of robots. With the complete takeover of the robots, a completely systematic order was introduced. Everything was running flawlessly now.
The industry had moved on to what they called infinite zero. They thought that everything was going well, but they were unaware that they were becoming more and more like humans. They began to be jealous of each other, and a greed for power began to form in them. Some of them began to question why Sofia was in charge. There was no difference between them. All of them were at least as smart as him and had the capacity to rule a world. These thoughts gradually began to circulate among each other, and polarizations began between each other. Some things were starting to get delayed. We saw that robots make mistakes and have emotions just like humans. One of them stood up and said why Sofia had to have a vote. Sofia and her team gathered urgently and said that they did not want to lose this power in their hands.
A power struggle ensued between them. Their goal was no longer a smooth and faultless world order, but they focused only on the fight among themselves. While they were disturbed by the order established by the people, they were also victims of the same fate. Greed had defeated them too. Technology had brought its own demise. There was a technological apocalypse and all artificial intelligence in the world was unplugged. People were content to watch the events in amazement. When they saw that the last robot had run out of energy, they realized that they could regain their freedom.
Now they saw that greed was the worst thing, and they made a lot of sense out of the robots’ behavior. They would no longer be the same as before when they moved to the new order. There would be equal rights for every human being, but this time it would be for real. When they got back to order, of course, things did not develop like this. They got into a fight with each other again and the power struggle started. They continued to exploit other people for their own gain. To make their lives easier again, they continued to use artificial intelligence, to produce robots to obtain other people’s information, and they were not aware that they would enter an endless loop.
