8.1 Introduction
This last and final section of survey results assesses perceptions and attitudes about being a working woman in Winston-Salem.
8.2 Key Findings
- The majority of responding women believe Winston-Salem is an affordable city to live and work and a city to which they would recommend professional women relocate for a job.
- Three out of five survey respondents said they would recommend Winston-Salem to a professional woman considering relocating for a job.
- Only 36% of respondents believe Winston-Salem has sufficient career advancement opportunities for women in their field.
8.3 Winston-Salem Perceptions

About 68% of women agreed or strongly agreed that Winston-Salem is an affordable city to live and work in. 58% believe the city is welcoming for professional women, and 60% would recommend Winston-Salem to other professional women.
51% of women disagreed or strongly disagreed with the statement about Winston-Salem having enough quality and affordable child care available.
