Chapter 4 Tank Tools

• Net
  • Mostly used to remove plant matter and floating debris, don’t use it on the fish unless there is some kind of emergency.
• Excel
  • A daily dose of carbon for the plants, it is absorbed / evaporates within 24 hours. An overdose will kill the fish but not the plants.
• Hikari Sinking Wafers
  • Cory food
• Betta Buffet Pellets
  • Neptune food
• Test Strips
  • Used after a tank clean or if you think something is fishy
• Prime
  • Used to dechlorinate and ready water before putting in the tank. Absolute necessity.
• Stress Coat
  • Used when adding water to tank. Nice to have a few drops. Not necessity.
• Filter
  • To be kept on as low flow as possible because Neptune does not like water disturbance.
• Water Heater
  • To be kept on 79ish degrees because this is the best temperature for all things to thrive in the tank.
• Suction Leaf
  • Is supposed to be about 2 inches from water’s surface for Neptune to sleep on. Obviously he doesn’t use it.
• Flourish Tablets
  • In June put one under the fern and one under the amazon sword, it’s fertilizer.
