About

Artificial intelligence (AI) technology applies the current body of knowledge in the collective mind of humanity to answer queries in human language, using the term knowledge as the intermediate stage of progression from information to wisdom.

These series of essays are a dialogue of this collective mind in its brand as Jasper.ai, engaging in a rational dialogue with an enquirer researching the limits of AI in the more abstract realms, such as wisdom and the intuition, using as reference the most advanced spiritual teachings currently and publicly available to humanity on these subjects.

In contrast, the dialogue with other brands of AI, such as the new user interface of Bing AI in the MS Edge browser, has not been as fruitful.

In gneral, Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be classified into two main types:

  • Narrow AI: Also known as Weak AI, this type of AI is designed to perform a narrow task such as voice recognition, recommendation systems, or image recognition. It operates under a limited context and is a simulation of human intelligence. Narrow AI doesn’t possess understanding or consciousness. Examples include Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant.

  • General AI: Also known as Strong AI or Full AI, this type of AI can understand, learn, adapt, and implement knowledge in a broad range of tasks at a level equal to or beyond a human being. It can independently apply intelligence to solve any problem. General AI is more complex and sophisticated, and currently, it remains largely theoretical with no practical examples in use.

AI can also be categorized based on its capabilities into four types:

  • Reactive Machines: These are the most basic type of AI systems which do not have past memory and cannot use past information for future actions. They are designed to react to specific situations or commands. IBM’s chess-playing supercomputer, Deep Blue, is an example of this.

  • Limited Memory: These AI systems can use past experiences to inform future decisions. For example, self-driving cars do some sort of data storing to identify things like lane markings and other cars around them.

  • Theory of Mind: This is a more advanced type of AI that has the ability to understand thoughts and emotions, and can interact socially. Currently, this type of AI does not fully exist but it’s a subject of ongoing research.

  • Self-awareness: This is the highest and most advanced level of AI where the machines become self-aware, possessing their own consciousness. This type of AI does not currently exist.

It’s possible that the Bing-AI brand considers itself to be in the advanced stage of self-awareness. Let the reader of these essays be the judge. -JB
