Introduction

Welcome to the STM1001 Maths and Notation Summary document. This document is intended to serve as a helpful resource for you during your STM1001 studies.

This book contains two chapters. The first chapter covers the foundational maths background that is required for STM1001. While this mathematical content is assumed knowledge for STM1001, you may find this chapter to be a useful refresher of particular maths topics that you will have encountered at school. For convenience, the chapter is divided into sections based on different maths concepts. So, while one way to use this book is to read through it in its entirety, it is also designed so that you can focus on particular sections as you need to. You will also find plenty of opportunity to practise as you go, with practice questions included throughout the chapter.

The second chapter contains a summary of notation used throughout STM1001, designed to be used as a reference.
