Chapter 3 Conclusions
In conclusion, this work analyzed the perception of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films by both the general public and critics using statistical tools. Through the use of data collection, visualization, parameter estimation, hypothesis testing, and trend analysis, this study aimed to objectively assess the controversy surrounding the quality of Phase Four films in the franchise. The results showed that movie critics tend to rate the films higher than the general public, and these differences are statistically significant. Additionally, there is evidence to suggest that there was a boycott of the TV series “She-Hulk” by the general public. However, there were no significant differences in ratings between the different phases of the MCU. Furthermore, the phases could not be ordered by rating with any level of confidence. Finally, the results showed that there has been a decrease in the mean ratings of the MCU films since 2016. Overall, this study provides a more objective view of the perception of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, and adds to the ongoing conversation about the quality of the franchise.
