7.6 Chapter summary

ANOVA (analysis of variance) provides a useful way of testing for effects of IVs or predictor variables on a continuous DV or outcome. It has the advantage of providing a single test statistic where a catergorical IV or predictor has more than two levels, and interpretable tests of main effects in models where interaction terms are also present. ANOVA tests are insensitive to scaling, centring or altering the reference levels of variables.
