Ausgangspunkt ist eine Annahme, die eigentlich verworfen (engl. nullify) werden soll: Nullhypothese (\(H_0\))

Wenn der Wert der Teststatistik unter Annahme der \(H_0\) “recht unwahrscheinlich” ist, wird sie abgelehnt und stattdessen die \(H_1\) angenommen
“recht unwahrscheinlich”: Signifikanzniveau \(\alpha\) ist vorab festzulegen; übliche Werte: \(\alpha=5~\%\) bzw. \(\alpha=1~\%\)

Z-Transformation: \(z = \frac{\bar{x} - \mu_{\bar{x}}}{\sigma_{\bar{x}}} = \frac{132 - 120}{4} = 3.0\)
Wie wahrscheinlich ist ein z-Wert von 3.0?
Laut Tabelle (vgl. Anhang) ergibt sich ein Wert von 0.13 %
Ein Mittelwert von 132 ist damit recht extrem. Er ist kein typischer Vertreter der Nullhypothese. Die Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass ein solcher Wert (oder ein noch größerer) auftritt, wenn die \(H_0\) gilt, ist 0.13 % und damit kleiner als \(\alpha = 5~\%\)
Die Werte der AV durch die neue Medikamentierung unterscheiden sich signifikant von den Werten, die durch die alte Medikamentierung erhalten werden. Wir können die \(H_0\) gleicher Mittelwerte ablehnen. Die neue Medikamentierung führt zu signifikant höheren Werten.
